The average, just in credit card, is about $8,000. This was on Oprah the other day. Throw in a car payment, student loans, mortgages, and you're looking at closer to $100,000+. It's neverending.

It doesn't matter about your age. It does matter about your yearly take home pay.
35% for housing
15% for transportation
25% for other
15% for debt
10% for savings

Look at the website listed below. Oprah is running a week long special just on debt called "Debt Diet". If you are in your 20's this will keep you out of trouble with debt and will make you very wealthy in 20 to 30 years.

I would say it depends upon what demographic you fall into. If you are a college graduate, like most, and have a car and are buying a home it should be around $150k to $200k. If you are just talking about unsecured credit card debt I would guess around $10-$20k, at least that's what most of my friends and I have.

Well in my late 20's I was already a homeowner. I owed 74,000 on my mortgage. I had about 10,000 in student loans left. I had about 10,000 in credit card debt (STUPID). I guess that's almost a $100K in debt, but at least my car was paid off....LOL

About $5,000 if you are single with no kids.

about $54,984 if you are married with children.

I don't know, really. I just made that up. However, it would all depend on your credit rating at the beginning of your adult life. And how much you used that credit rating to rack up some bills.

Don't know, don't care. The question you should be asking is "How Do I Live Debt-Free" so I don't have to be slave to the lender and pay high interest rates.

i guess it depends upon the person... i think most of my friends owe anywhere from a couple hundred dollars, to a couple thousand dollars (and one even more! but that one was due to identity theft and she is currently fighting that). lucky me, i don't owe anything (which is great since i quit my job!)
