I liked the new one better. I liked the Oompa Loompas (or LoompA, since it was all the same guy) better. I liked how the O.L song changed every time. I liked Mike Teevee's character much better. I like how NO ONE sang BUT the Oompa Loompas. I liked Johnny Depp's version of Willy Wonka better and I liked the whole side story about how his dad was a dentist and forbid him to have candy. I also liked how we got to see the other kids after their experience in the factory. LOVED IT!!!

I've read the book several times, maybe even hundreds. I remember being disappointed at the first movie. When I went to the remake I when in with much lower expectations, Tim Burton and Johnny Depp have not combined on very many movies that I like, but I liked how the remake followed the book better if you take out all of the father issues and Willy not wanting Charlie to bring his family to the factory. I like the umpa loompa poems in the first movie, but I really like the songs in the second movie better, as they follow the book much more closely. I thought that Verruca was better in the first movie, but other than that it's a toss up. One other think I liked about the book is that everyone brought both parents, well not Charlie, but all of the other kids brought both parents.

No! I acutally didn't see the new one on purpose. The old one was turned into a movie based on Roald Dahl's book and Dahl spent time creating the screenplay, scenery, working with the actors, etc on set! Dahl passed away quite a while ago and I feel that the remaking of the movie was done without a proper blessing from Dahl (Yes, I know there are people that hold his estate and okay this type of stuff).
I just felt that I didn't want to see it because it wasn't authentic Dahl and he was a fantastic children's author. Plus the original is an incredible movie with talented actors and Johnny Depp is a bit creepy.

I watched both of them and they were both awesome. I can't chose which one was better because I can't. I really liked the movies because I LOVE candy. It's cool how you could eat everything in that one room Come to think of it, I liked the newer one because it was a lot funnier. I would sure hate to only have one chocolate bar a year! To conclude this, both movies were great and I hope they make Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 2. Oh and on the second movie it was really funny with all the oompa lumpa's making those songs. The book was really good too, but I personally liked the movie(s) the best!!

I saw the original as a kid and read the book. Depps is much better in my opinon AND follows the book more closely. I also really liked how the background of the oompa loompas and willie wonka were shown a bit in the remake. I have watched the remake probably a dozen times at least. Its far better then the original but again as I said, that is just my opinon. The original even as a kid, struck me as somewhat boring and 'flat' -- only way I can describe it. It was good mind you, but not as good as it /could/ have been even back when it was made.

Yes, I have. The 1st one with that guy with the curly hair was really something awkward to watch. The one with Johnny Depp was a bit awkward too but I think was really fun to watch cuz of the oompa loompas and of course the beautiful Depp is in it.

Original is the best. Both Gene Wilder and the original Oompa Loompas.

The original was 10 times better. Tim Burton is way too "dark" for that remake.

Saw them both and wanted my money back for the remake. Way worse than the original, especially the music.
