I'm sure you have heard by now how much healthier it is to breasfeed - and it is!!! However, if there is some reason you can't, bottle is fine too. I think too much of either would make your baby fat- depends on how much you feed him/or her. Schedule feeding is much better than "snack feeding, or demand feeding", and the baby is on your schedule, not his. I'm not talking of a rigid on the minute schedule, but if you figure on feeding them on a window of 2 1/2- 4 hours or so, you can have time to do your shopping or whatever, and come home, then feed the baby again. I believe it controls weight, and wait till 6 months to give them the baby cereal. Controlled amounts. This will help baby sleep through the night to. They love the stability a schedule holds. However, I think fat babies are cute anyway, and once they start walking, it usually doesn't matter how fat they are, they almost always always will lose their baby fat, and by the time they are 2 or 3 I'm sure they will be skinny little things. Do what you feel is best for you and your baby- good luck!!!

I was told Bottlefed babies are heavier because they suck to comfort themselves and we just keep putting in more formula thinking they are hungry where a breastfed baby does the same but some how the breast after a while it naturally goes to a slower flow so that baby still gets the comfort of sucking but not as much food.
I tried to breastfeed, but my daughter rejected me. After four weeks of fighting painfully for her to accept the breast I gave up and switched to the bottle. My daughter is 18 months old she weights 19.5 lbs (7lbs 3.5 ozs at birth) and is 30 inches tall (21 inches at birth). So she was bottlefeed and she is VERY tiny. So I guess the above isn't true for all babies!
It may have to do with the fact that I gave my daughter a cup at 6 months old and she kinda never looked back. She took a bottle to bed for naps and bedtime (water only) until she was 10 months (starting at 6 months or 7 months) and then dropped down to bedtime only. Then when she turned one I slowly switched her to a cup at bed time (took a week) and put all the bottles in storage. She was FULLY weaned by 13 months old.
I love how many people didn't answer your question, they just all tell you breast is best. We already know that! It is EVERYWHERE, I tried the breast. It was PAINFUL, but not all people have the SAME experiance. I found out later that not only was my daughter rejecting me, she was rejecting me because I wasn't doing it 100% right, that the lactition nurse at the hospital (the same one who told me to hold my large breast back or I will SUFFOCATE my baby and was VERY rough with me) didn't show the the CORRECT way to do it. I have a couple friends that say they will help me with the next baby, on proper latch and comfort and everything and one of them DIDN'T breastfeed their kids, but she taught her daughter how to do it successfully!

don't know about which makes the baby fat, but the breast is definately healthier if the mother is eating right. I breast fed both of my daughters and they have been very healthy, very few colds/coughs, etc

Neither source is going to make your baby fat! That's just goofiness/old wives' tale fodder....
Breast or bottle is a very personal decision & both ways will get your baby proper nutrition if you are doing it correctly. Whichever method you choose, ask your pediatrician for the correct number of ounces and number of feedings per day.
(BTW, I, my hubby, and our 2 kids were all bottle-fed and perfectly healthy....)

breast milk is the best for the baby's health . . formula is of course the alternative . . there are more things than just milk/formula that make your baby chubby . . genes for one . . all three of my children were breast fed, two remained thin and the other was a little butterball but as she grew, she thinned out . . . don't worry about having a chubby baby . . . follow your pediatrician's advice for a health child

It all depends on how much the baby eats. Fat is a good thing on a baby. My baby was breastfed and she went from fat to average to fat again, depending on her growth. Now she's average, a little on the slim side at age 2 1/2.

Breast feeding makes babies fat but is better for the infant but you must be healthy.
Bottles make cause stomach aches for an infant or even Colic.
But choose what you think is better!!
