Yes, I read it in high school. Very, very good and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Excellent book of short catchy poems (many with a twist at the end) - all about the people in the cemetery of the mythical town of Spoon River. Written by Edgar Lee Masters, the book of poems really lends itself to reader's theatre amd monologues. I've see it done both ways. Its also a great book to use in American Lit classes because you can use it to teach American poetry and have students choose and act out the various poems. Its really a wonderful piece. Masters also did a sequel called More Spoon River, I believe.

Yes, I have heard of it. I lived in Quincy, IL for a number of years and the Spoon River Valley is just to the north.
There is a big Fall Festival up the Spoon River that all the various towns participate it. I never made it up to see it, but heard it was great.

Spoon River Anthology is a collection of poems by Edgar Lee Masters, and the gist of the collection is to capture a whole town's personality through individual portraits of its ordinary citizens. If you like poems that tell stories in traditional form, this collection should appeal to you.

Yes, I've read it and I had to do a monologue for it in Theatre class. It's actually a wonderful and different book. It tells of the lives of all these people that have died, and some of the lives are pretty amazing.
