well, where to start...
the Bauhaus is one of the most important design school, why well its the fist school that combines the arts and the production of things, you'll mostly hear this school in Industial Design, it has brought may ideas and many design philosophers. now the school was mostly based in 3 periods, the philosophy changed with them. now something important to consider was that this school was placed when the Nazi where getting stronger and be live it or not some people like Kandinsky and Marcel Brewer were considered madman. there are many souse and lost of information you can find in the Internet as well as in library's. i just gave you a really super brief description you'll have to look it up for more information. hope i was of some help. best of luck

Bauhaus originated in Germany. It's an art form which combines form and functionality. Form should follow function.
I suggest asking your librarian for some books on it. There should be some good books out there with pictures that will help you understand the philosophy by looking at several examples.
