Dad3 reads a bit and says global warming is a cover up for the fact that the earth's orbit has changed and it's now swinging dangerously near the sun. Is this possible?

You want to rent the film, "The Day the Earth Caught Fire" before you dismiss my dad3's conclusions.

Its possible, but thats not predicted to happen for another few million years, the orbit of the earth is fine, your dad is having a laugh.

You should be more worried about the possiblilty of a runaway greenhouse effect on earth, which is what could have happened to planets like venus. The ozone layer can be fixed by stopping polution, but once you get enough greenhouse gases up there then we become like ants under a magnifying glass. And we won't know if this is going to happen until its too late, though our generation is fine so don't worry about it.

This process would take millions, if not billions, of years. The only reason global warming is going on is because the Ozone Layer is slowly losing it's "thickness" because all of the Greenhouse Gases are slowly making gaping holes in the polar regions where the Ice Caps are slowly melting.

It would take a massive amount of gravitaional force for this to happen, and it would only happen gradually. I'd say both are possible but it no lie that we are destroying our planet's natural defence barrier against harmful rays of the sun and causing our atmosphere to absorb the rays of heat from the sun, as our ever increasing pollution of CFCs and carbon is keeping it in.

pollutants we sending into the atmosphere cannot go anywhere so it creates a thick blanket of cloud that will break down the ozone layer that will allow the sunrays to penetrate our planet causing disaster time and time again.it will feel like we are close to the sun in less than a decade, try watching the film the day after tomorrow.

All the exhaust fumes that are escaping through the hole in the ozone layer are pushing us closer like a thruster.

And there would be a coverup... why? Lets cover up this devastating global crisis with another, different global crisis...
