I've tried reconnecting it, tried a million different things - No, the hold button is not on. How can I fix this, please!

Hold down the menu button. Or hold down both the menu and the select button. The iPod will reset/restart itself.

The same thing happended to my ipod. Just hold down the center button and the menu at the same time for 10 seconds. You should see a little apple in the middle which will go away in a few seconds and your ipod will be back to normal. That WILL work just try it.

to reset the ipod, push and hold SELECT (middle) + MENU.

Hold for 10 seconds. The ipod should reset itself and you should see the apple logo if it works.

If that doesn't work, it's a more serious issue & you should contact Apple.
