I am wanting to plant some yellow watermelons, but know nothing about planting or taking care of them. Does anyone have any suggestions?

That would depend on where in Texas you are . When I lived on the coast I'd plant seed in March but now I'm in the panhandle and planted in June.

I'd do a search on watermelons and see how long it takes them to grow to a harvestable size. You live in TX; you can probably plant them in April or May and have them in 60 days or so. I'd say "don't overwater."

Find a large tree, climb it and put the seed on the highest branch. This will enable it to get all the rain. Then climb down the tree and go to your local supermarket, buy a watermelon and enjoy...

generally 4 or 5 months before you want to have watermelons, and right after the last frost. water them at least twice a week, enough so the ground is saturated, not just damp.
