Absolutely a myth. You *cannot* get pregnant on the first day of your cycle. It is physically impossible.

You can *only* get pregnant when you are ovulating. A woman ovulates about 2 weeks (usually 12-16 days) before her *next* period. No egg, no pregnancy!! (Some people who answer questions here seem to still believe in the stork!!) Sperm can live in the female body for up to 3-5 days if conditions are right (they die before they can fertilize an egg otherwise). The egg only lives a few hours, so you need to have sex before ovulation in order to get pregnant...but never the first day of your period!!

Don't worry about it. It's a myth. The best time to get pregnant is when you are ovulating. For someone with a 28 day cycle, that would be on the 14th day after the first day of your period. For cycles of other lengths, figure out when your next period is due, and count back 14 - 16 days from that date.

It is possible. Very RARE, but possible. If a woman has a very short cycle, like 20-23 days or so, she may well ovulate at the end of her menses.

MOST women though, ovulate toward the middle (if you have a 28-32 day cycle, you would ovulate somewhere between days 12-18).

I know of at least two women that ovlate toward the end of their cycle and have about an 8 day luteal phase (which caused a lot of difficulties in getting preggers as well)

I also know one woman who had short cycles and she discovered that she was ovulating on about day 6 of her cycle, which put her at the last day, day after her period.

I think this sounds like a myth - u need to ovulate to fall pregnant, and if u've started ur period the egg is on its way out really. I would wait approximately 14 days after ur LMP and then go at it like mad from there. Also look for fertility signs in ur cervical fluid. I have heard when its like eggwhite its most fertile and when u have ur period how can u tell whats what?! (and who really wants to look!) Dont lose heart with falling - as soon as I stopped thinking about it, it happened. Enjoy practising and it will happen when its meant to happen ;o)

It depends on how long your cycle is. If you have a "normal" 28 day cycle I'd say start having sex around 8 days after you start. But if you cycle runs longer then around day 14 till the day of you period. But I would do it every other night so you don't run the risk of low sperm count. Also you can search the web on
trying to concieve for other info. That's where I got my info.

sperm can live for about ten days in a warm environment place a pillow under the hips and raise the vagina to help the sperm arrive at the back of the vagina to the opening to the uterus now have him give you an orgasm as that contracts the uterine opening and it sucks the sperm up into the opening and then they arrive at the area of the egg faster use a vibe if it helps or some oral as long as it works and dont be shy about teaching him about this ,, its from human sexuality on the discovery channel ,,

No this is NOT true. You should have sex either right before you ovulate or the day of ovaulation. Its very unlikely to get pregnant while you are on your period. You friend is giving you wrong info.

All women ovulate different, so it could be true for HER, and not for you.

I was told to do this:
Day 1 is the 1st day of your period.
Have sex:
Day 10, 12, 14 AND 16
OR this pattern -
Day 11, 13 AND 15

Best wishes,
j.

This is not the ample time to get pregnant. Usually when you start your period it is because your egg has passed through your uterus. Now that does not mean that 1 in a thousand chance another egg was not released. It just means that you do not have better chances at this time.
Good Luck
