i got my ears double pierced in January, right after Christmas, and i think the one is infected. i am not positive it is, but the keloid/scar tissue is swelling up and is sensitive to the touch. also, when i take my earrings off at night, in the morning it is hard to find the holes + stick the earring back in. like, it's covered in a scab, so to speak. is this infected? i think it got infected on vacation a week ago, or at least, thats when i noticed it. is it normal for infections to last that long?

also, how long should you wait to leave your earrings out for a prolonged time? a year? 6 mo?

1. go to a store like Clairs and get an ear cleaner
2. take out earring and squeeze any puss out of piercing.
3. wet q-tip with cleaner and rub very well at the hole and around it.
4. put your starter studs back in and LEAVE them in.
5. every morning and evening use a q-tip to cleanse around and behind earring. (Don't take the earrings out)
6. in about 4 weeks, your piercing should be good as new.

**you really need to leave the earrings in or your holes will close up on you. Wash your hands before handling your piercing.

The problem may be the type of earring you have in it. You should try something hypo-allergenic like gold or silver. Also try leaving it in, clean it every day. I had my second hole done over 10 years ago and it still gets sore. I keep taking it out, I should leave it in all the time. It will close if you leave it out too long

neo sporin works wonders on piercings and don't take the jewelry out until the stud heals just put some neosporin on it and roll the earring to get the antibiotic in the hole

i would go to a doctor. If it is infected, you don't want it to get any worse.
