Isn't there a learn to crochet.com? Knitting and crochet is very different. The best way for a beginner to learn is to have someone show you because it is hard to explain how to wrap the yarn around your fingers just right and keep the tension just right. I would begin by making a chain stitch to get where you can make even stitches. Then you can progress on to double crochet, then you can try hooking things together. Making an afgan from granny squares is a good way to learn because you do the same thing over and over until your stitches are really smooth. Those scarves they make are really easy too with fun fur. Have fun!

One knot at a time. In Salt Lake City, I once stepped in to a shop right off of Temple Square. I'm not Mormon and the shop did not try to convert me. But, there was the most powerful display of hand made quilts.....If I had the money I would have walked away with as many as I could carry and come back for more. I'm sure there is a way to find that store. Maybe the Chamber of Commerce or The Better Business Bureau in SLC.

Good luck,

Jerry

Crochet is very easy, it's just pulling loops of string through other loops with a hook. There are many books, websites, and forums out there ready and eager to help you on this crafty journey. I've included a few below.

Good Luck!

It isn't really hard, my daughter is teaching herself. The web site I included has free projects and basic information. The second web site is a direct link to pictures. It is a nice site to get basic information and get you started. Have fun :)
