People do find it disgusting, some don't. Each person has their own views on the subject and it is quite emotive. This then gets in to the debate on censorship and should pornography be banned, or should only certain types of pornography be banned.

This varies between individuals, the sexes and different cultures; each of which views pornography in a different light. When you add freedom of speech into the equation then it is very complex.

So the answer is I find some types of pornography not to my taste and some, disgusting.

I also think that it is not appropriate for children, and that adults should be protected so it is their conscious decision to view, as opposed to being bombarded with it; and that there should be laws to ensure this happens.

At the end of the day it is a question of taste.

I think pornography appeals more to men, because men tend to be more visual, where women tend to be more emotional and tend to like to read and fantasize, where men prefer to see it. You can't tell me women don't love their little romance novels and things of that nature...it's because women want to get the emtional aspect into it and fantasize. Men tend to be more to the point and blunt and want to see things in action. What do *I* think of porn? I don't see anything wrong with it, I mean if you WANT the entire nation looking at your naked body and how you act, sound, and look when you have sex, I guess that's your buisiness and I thank the men and women who have the courage to do it. I mean that's gotta take a LOT of self confidence about the way you look (probably some ********* too I would imagine, since you gotta think along the lines of "hey, people PAY to see ME have sex" ya know?) The only thing I don't like is the cheesy music, the OLD furniture in the background (yes, when I get bored with the porn, my attention focuses to the surroundings they are in) and the girls REALLY gotta work on making it NOT sound so fake!

Omg we had a big discussion about this on a 4 hr + road trip, talking about whether or not porn encourages rape etc... Personally I think porn is a good thing, and creepy guys can watch it INSTEAD of raping people, as opposed to it encouraging them...

And to not be so serious - it can help the mood haha

Two thumbs up for porn hehe

Natural human instinct, i dont find the act of sex vulgar at all, as long as it is kept between the to whom performed the action. I think it is disgusting when people tape it and decide to share it with one another.....that is when it becomes vulguar and immoral.

It's just over glamorized sex. The only disgusting aspect of it, is that it's always fake and not true to real life.

Why is it disgusting? Do you have sex? Is that disgusting? Unless your watching animal sex or something really kinky that you don't care for, it's just people having sex or sexual experiences.....on video.

it's entertainment. i mean, sex sells. you turn on the tv or open magazines and there are mega-attractive people showing off their bodies or having steamy love scenes in movies. porn is simply an extension of that. some people find victoria's secret commercials disgusting. some people find shorts and sandals worn in public as disgusting. some guy from the taliban may ask how americans can stand to have their women walking around with their faces exposed without being disgusted or infuriated. But that is there and this is America, and in America, pornography is acceptible in the appropriate venues (18+ stores & the privacy of one's home). So long as it involves consenting adults, it's certainly ok, and I personally think sex is a natural and beautiful act... even when it's rough and wild! And I personally enjoy masturbating a lot more with some porn to look at, because i'm a male and we're very visual creatures. some girls are uptight about it and some aren't. i'm in a long-term relationship and thankfully she's very ok with it (she likes a little porn herself) and i can proudly say i've never dated someone who was uptight about porn, because they would disgust me as much as i'd disgust them. so guys, if you are like me and love your porn, and you meet a girl who's all dead set against it, just toss her! plenty of girls out there that are more open-minded and sexually uninhibited! there's never a need to compromise who you are and what you like to meet someone else's appeasement, so long as you're within the bounds of the law and social norms... and socially there's nothing wrong with a private liking for porn so long as you're in a group of like-minded people. if you live in mormon-land and yet you love your porn, i feel for ya and i'd recommend moving because i personally think there's nothing shameful about it and it's too bad some people do have to live with that sense of "wrongness." the only person in your life whos business that is would be your significant other, so i think people just need to make sure they're with a like-minded person.

as for the moral implications of pornography itself (ie its production) i still see nothing wrong with it. it's sex... it's something people do whether they're on camera or not. it's no more arranged than a personals ad meet-up would be, or a "blind date" that leads to quick fun sex, or a hookup at a bar even. it's human business as usual. do i think people are being exploited for that? i think service jobs that pay minimum wage exploit human desperation more than porn does. i'd rather be getting it on camera than serving cruellers in a funny hat while some old uneducated hag gripes about how i don't know where the croissants go after 2 days on the job. capitalism is built on a firm foundation of exploiting people for their desperate need for money. the idea, though, is that ultimately you decide if you're willing to do a job for the pay that's offered... and if you are, then it's all good. being a janitor is not exactly dignified, but if someone's willing to do it, then there's nothing wrong with it. and, like i said, i think porn is not that undignified. who's to say these people would be doing anything better if it wasn't porn? selling drugs is less dignified. being desperate for money is undignified in itself. so i think there's nothing lost in the social scheme.

as for the morality of porn's distribution and its potential addictiveness, that doesn't wash with me either. everything that's enjoyable is addictive. fast food is addictive, and it can lead to obesity which decreases productivity and creates health problems. video games are addictive and cause people to achieve less in their lives. then of course there's cigarettes and alcohol. socializing can damage people too... how many college students had to drop out because they spent too much time with friends and not enough on studying? or people that have lost jobs due to gabbing too much and not working enough. it's each person's responsibility to decide what things in life thye want to enjoy, and to make sure they don't go overboard. i think porn is no different at all. and if someone says porn changed their view of women, they're lying to you. if they look at porn and see the women as objects, then they've been looking at women as objects all along. the men are naked and having sex... are they objects too?

that's my opinions on the subject.
