It depends on the websites.
Some auto-log you off, others keep you logged in if you allowed them to set cookies with your preferences saved.

Yes eventually like Charles G said 24 hours is the default setting of how frequently you are asked for your password on Yahoo. I have set mine to the highest password security level which it asks for it every 15 minutes just in case I forget to log out which makes sure nobody else can nosey at my emails.

It depends on the service. Generally, no -- if you log into Yahoo and close the browser, you're still logged in. You can still check your mail if you open the browser again.
Many services will log you out eventually. Yahoo does so after about 24 hours.

no that happened to me and when i went back it was still signed on.But on my friends computer i signed in and didnt sign out but it did sign out it automatically.

You won't be signed out completely, but you won't be able to access features such as your e-mail without verifying your password when you come back.
