They're thinking "this is the perfect song to get all those Hot Topic-loving, obnoxious twits into buying our CDs and supporting us! They love this rebellious, 'dark-sounding' crap that can show the world how sad or angry they feel inside".

Well, I don't know all the songs, but I can tell you that Lake of Fire is actually a Meat Puppets song, which I always took to be a tongue-in-cheek example of bible-thumping fear mongers trying to scare people straight.

I agree with the first response about "Nights in White Satin" it's about regret over love lost.

"Nights In White Satin" is the only one I know...

Pretty much -- it's about a guy dreaming of a love, when they were intimate... and those letters he 'never did send', were the things he couldn't say to her.

'Beauty I've always missed / With these eyes before" means that he never -truly- noticed his lover until it was almost too late.

"Just what the truth is / I can't say anymore" and these recent feelings have definitely messed with his mind.

That's about all I got. =) Good luck!
