their thumb on a daily basis....i know a guy that does it and it is nasty.....he is 26

That's a little old....My mother was never believed in dicipline and isn't very firm whenever she tries to tell me no, so I didn't stop that habit until I was 11. But sheesh, 26? Maybe he needs some therapy to discover the root of the continuing habit/problem.

Anyone that sucks their thumb after the age of 5 has a serious issue. Its a bad habit, not to mention it deters the growth and formation of your teeth.

Mostly the only people that would suck their thumb as adults have probly been abused as children and are trying to comfort themselves. I don't know anyone at the moment who does this.

I have seen a lot of kids who are in high school and suck their thumbs. I have seen their older siblings sucking their thumbs too. Most are girls, but there are a few boys doing so too. I think it is strange, but at my school, it seems to be tolerated. No one teases them or anything. Strange, eh?
