if it next year then i think oldmoose2 is right because the books seem to always come out in July and on a Saturday.
if that is the date that would be great because that's my 21st birthday and i could read the next day while nursing a hangover.

It has been rumored that book seven will be released on July 7, 2007 (07.07.07), because seven is a powerfully magical number in the series. I think that would be incredible if it were, but it is unlikely because of the release date of the fifth Harry Potter movie. It is set for July 13, 2007. I don't see the book and the movie being released so close together. There would be a fight for publicity.
Bloomsbury co-founder Liz Calder (who publishes the British versions of the Potter books), recently said in an interview, "The next Harry Potter book is likely to come out in 2007. I hope so."
I also think it's safe to say that the book will release sometime in the summer. I think that Scholastic and Bloomsbury will make sure that kids will have enough time to devour the book. If it was during the school year, there might be some problems.

A summer release is most likely since that is tradition but guessing on the year of release is harder. JK Rowling has said she wouldn't start writing until early this year because she had wanted to spent time with her new baby. So, the book may well be released in 2007, if she can write it all within a year, or 2008. I lean towards 2008 because I can't see her completing it withing one year as this is her final book and you'd think she'd want to make it perfect, tweaking it and ensuring any lingering questions were answered. We'll find out if the book is to be rreleased in 2007 by the end of the year as she usually announces a date about six months in advance.
I wouldn't pay much attention to the 07/07/07 release date rumour though. It sounds nice in theory but that would be the second anniversary of the London Bombings and I couldn't see a high-profile British author releasing a hyped-up book on that day at risk of appearing crass or insensitive.

Many sources have said that sometime in 2007, the 7th and final Harry Potter book will come out.

Sometime in 2007, rumored to be in July. The fifth movie is also suposed to come out next summer.

I think it will be at least another year, because when the 6th book came out, Rowling had'nt even begun to write the 7th. I don't think she wants the series to end!
