Why do birds have feathers?

Well-here goes because that is the way that God designed them Now per the evolution theory the dinosaurs that survived theory No1-the ice age2.theory no 2 huge meteor or outer space stuff crashed on earth blocking sun causing ice age and many dinosaurs died out but after this age the new species was the forerunner of birds although I myself think its nonsense, Birds have feathers for the means by which they fly-the wing feathers, while the other feathers insulate and so on to keep the bird alive. The feathers that are closest to the skin for example never get wet(under normal circumstances) they also preen the feathers-substance from gland-that keeps them clean and has water not be able to penetrate for rolls off the feathers. But the answer is because that's how they were made.

Not only to keep them warm and able to fly, but they are water repellent. Many birds are near water or land on water to fish. Why do you have hair? To keep your head warm and if you loose it, you wear a hat. Feathers of different colors also attract potential mates. Imagine a bald bird, if you were a female bird, would want to mate with a bald bird? I think not. Feathers are light weight making it easier to fly.
