Diapers of various sizes, wipes, crib sheets, and gift cards are the best, in my opinion. My baby was 5 months old before we had to buy diapers and 7 months old before we had to buy wipes. That was a blessing! And gift cards are always good because there will always be something that you'll end up needing that you didn't get.

OK dont think Im horrible...when I got this item at my baby shower I was sure I would never use it.
There is this plastic bib that has a gutter like thing at the bottom to catch run away peas and that sort of stuff...it looks funky...BUT..it was great when the kids started to self feed themselves..it really cut down on the mess on the floor..I know they have them at Babys r Us. I get them for all the new mommys and they do the same thing I did when I got it but they always wind up calling me months later to tell me how great it is..
Oh and a small, light, umbrella stroller the $20 variety. It will come in handy down the road for over packed stores and restaurants where the regular strollers just take up to much room.

I thought I had everything. These are the items I wish I had known I would have needed.
1. Extra cover for the changing table
2. Lots of books and music and Baby Einstein dvds
3. Toys that encourage milestones (no more stuffed animals, 25 is enough!)
4. A gift certificate to your favorite restaurant so that hubby/daddy can swing by and pick up a super yummy meal within 2 weeks post pardum
5. Gift Certificates (always a huge plus)
Congrats on the baby!!!!!

Ask for Diapers. If you all ready have a lot of newborn and size 1 ask that they get you size 2. Otherwise tell them a gift card would be nice, incase after the baby is born you think of something else you might need. Once the baby comes there is always something else you will need or want. Congrats on the baby! Good luck to you and your family! :)

Gift cards, diapers (bigger sizes...cuz you don't want too many small sizes since they grow out of them so fast), ...most everyone has covered those bases. I wouldn't suggest formula because you don't know if you're baby will be able to tolerate the "general" formula they start you with at the hospital and a lot of stores won't return formula even unopened with a receipt.

Diapers, pacifiers, baby hangers, dreft baby laundry soap, lotion, diaper rash cream, onsies, bibs, burb clothes, extra sheets for the crib, these are all things that you need a lot of because you will use, lose, and needs lots of these things just in the first month

Diapers, baby shampoo, baby soap and extra crib sheets, b/c you can never have enough crib sheets, especially if your baby spits up a lot!!

DIAPERS AND BABY LAUNDRY DETERGENT!!! Sorry to yell, but as a mom to a 28 month old and a 12 month old, you will constantly be changing diapers and doing laundry. :) I assume you're only having one baby, but you'll still be doing laundry and changing diapers. :)

A lot of people just have "diaper showers" when all people bring are diapers.

A note saying: one night baby- sitting baby while you and hubby are out on a date....or: I will order/ call in pizza for you and hubby...after baby is born...or: I will pay someone to clean your entire house after baby is born.
