about being a religious "fanatic" (as some call it) .....I just need to know, were you raised going to church? What religion.....and do you still practice that religion? If not, what/why did you change your religion to another? If you weren't brought up in a church whatsoever, what are your beliefs and how did they come to you without the "knowledge" since you were not taught a specific belief?

I was raised in the United Church of Christ. I tried other churches and religions when I grew up and left home but nothing made sense to me.
I am a member of the United Church of Christ today. It brings me peace.

I did not grow up going to church (I went to a Unitarian- Universalist church for a while when I was a small child, but churches give me the creeps). I am now a Druid. However, just because I did not grow up going to church does not mean I did not have a religious education. I read about all the religions I could find; Druid fit my experience and my personal feelings the best. I was raised in a household that was essentially atheist, though I did not decide on that choice until I was 4, and that was because of personal experience.

I wasn't brought up involved in any religion. About 4 years ago I became a Christian.

After years of making the same kind of mistakes and suffering the same consequences, achieving goals but still not finding satisfaction, I found Jesus. It is the only thing that has given my any kind of true happiness. My most nagging question has always been why am I here. Surely we are not blessed with the ability to think etc. unlike other species on the planet merely to be born and die. In Jesus I found my reason for being here.

I was raised in the Methodist Church. I don't go now, although I try to follow the teachings, such as treating others the way I want to be treated, etc. I have been exposed to a lot of other churches, i.e. I was baptized Mormon in my twenties, and there are things in that church that I believe, although not everything, and lately there have been Jehovah's Witnesses come to my door and I agree with some of their teachings, but I don't argue with them, and also over the years, I went to a charismatic church where they spoke in tongues, etc, and there are some things that I took with me. I guess I believe a little bit of this and a little bit of that and I treat people nicely, so that has to count for something, right?

I was raised as an anglican (I was goung to be a minister whem I grew up) but as I got older I asked questions which were not answered (a bit like here really) and saw the hypocracy of organised religion. So I left. I still think Jesus' teaching is an excellent philosophy but most christians don't really follow them.

I became Buddhist about 15 years ago.

I was raised a Catholic. We didn't go to church daily OR weekly for that matter, but I did go to a Catholic school and was raised with Catholic beliefs.

Today I'm not sure what I believe in or if I even believe in a higher being. ...that's not true, I'm just very skeptic. I think I've maintained some of my Catholic beliefs, but so much has happened in my life in the past few years that it's hard for me to pretend that I believe in religion... of any kind.

I personally was not raised in a church going family. A store keeper near our home took my sister and I with him and his wife when I was in 4th grade. We quit going for one reason or another after about a year, and I never really went again until I was 15 when invited by my girl friend. She and her friend talked to me often at length about Christ Jesus' teachings and salvation. After dating her for about 1 1/2 years, I made the decision to make Christ my Savior. I have been a believer since 1964, although for many years I lived MY way. It wasn't until 1985 that I finally turned back to following Christ. I have been a Bible teacher since 1988 and sincerely wish I had never gone MY WAY for so many years because of the wonderful blessings I missed during that time. My religion is CHRISTIAN, my denomination is BAPTIST.
