Why do your elbows get dark if you lean on them alot?

I find myslef putting my elbows on the desk or table, while I'm working or on the computer, one more than then the other. Does this scar your elbows? The one I lean on most is getting dark round pressure spot on it... Is the only solution not leaning on my elbows?

Hi !
I think it's common for the elbow area to be dark just like in some people their knees are dark. Don't know what causes it but I do know of some remedies that I use to take care of the problem.

There's a couple of things you can - see below :)

#1 - Cut a lemon in half and place your elbow inside the lemon, Turn lemon a couple of times until your elbow is soaked in lemon juice. Dry and apply lotion.

#2 Hydrogen Peroxide Solution - take a cotton ball and soak in this solution and then apply to your elbow. This remedy works wonders too.

#3 Any skin lightener cream - one I use is made by "Clear Essence - this works wonders but you have to remember to apply it. :)

Well, whatever part of your body you're leaning on will get all the blood flowing to it, duh.
Try to alternate ways to lean... like elbows, one elbow, the whole forearm... or get a stool.

dark???? mine get bright red...i call this compression...been doing this for 10 years , no ill effect.......i have poor blood circulation , the blood is pushed out of the capillaries, and when it rushes back gets red,...try looking in a medical book under capillaries., or ask a Doctor, like on medicine .com

Use a small Pillow under the elbows and WASH THEM !!!!

your elbows get dark because they're getting dirty from propping, so rub hard to wash the area

Blood circulation. I don't know about you getting scars from it though.
