Use a solution of 3 parts WISK laundry detergent to 1 part BLEACH. Put it in a small spray bottle and spray the stain. Work the solution in by rubbing it making sure that all the threads involved in the stain have been soaked in it. Then, LET IT DRY. Wash it with your normal load of whites. If it doesn't work the first time completely. Do it again. 9 times out of 10 it gets my families stains out of anything especially whites.

do not dry the shirt until the stain is gone or it will be permanent. Try this and see if it helps: mix equal parts amnonia, dish soap(any brand) and water. pour or spray on the stain from the back. Take an old toothbrush or any other kind of cleaning brush you have on hand and gently brush in circles through the stain. Rinse in clean cool water and see if it helped. If some stain remains, repeat process. This will get out almost any kind of stain from grass, blood, automobile oil, grease, you name it, even some ink stains. Good luck.
PS after stain is removed wash as usual.

Exactly what the stain was is quite important. But,,,If it has gone
through the heat of the dryer, it may never come out.
My son worked at Mickey Ds in high school, I washed all of his
greasy clothes together in 1/4 cup Cascade Dish washer
detergent and Tide in hot water in the washer. I always had
good success. But remember this was greasy stains.
Good Luck!!!

if you don't get the stain pretty much the moment it's been stained, then it's there for life, or you could bleach it out.
