Go to: http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
and download SpywareBlaster 3.5.1
It is freeware and after download and installed, it can and should reside in your Start folder. Each time you boot up, Spyware opens and runs in the background stopping the following from loading into your computer. ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests. You will not even notice it running in the background and consumes very limited resources.
Also, Spybot Search and Destroy is free for personal use.
Hopefully you have a good virus protection program installed, but, if not, get one very soon. Good Luck

spyware doctor. its a free program, but you'll have to install the program, update the software once you have installed it, and run the scan all over again. then you can delete them. there might be some that any spyware program will not be able to delete. these are the kinds of files, that even if you found the folder they were in, and right clicked to delete them, your computer would tell you it cannot delete this file. if you have a file or two you are having problems with, write down the directory where they are, and reboot your computer, but instead of letting it go right into windows, pay attention, and boot your computer up into safe mode, it should be F7 or some key. its different on every computer. so its hard to tell how to get into safe mode on your comptuer. usually its pretty easy though. once you are loaded into safe mode, go to "my computer" and then click into the directory its in, until you are looking right at the file. while your in safe mode, you can delete these types of files. dont do anything else in safe mode. it will mess your computer up. restart from safe mode, and let it boot up into regular windows. do one more scan to make sure you are clear and free of germs, and cooties.

If you have windows XP you are wasting your time using anything but Windows Defender. You can get it free at microsoft.com. The only catch is you have to change from windows update to microsoft update to get the definitions. This is all free. Just go to windows update and click on upgrade to microsoft update. This is an awesome program. I have been using it for over a year when it was first named microsoft antispy, and I have never had anything on my computer.

Adaware is free. Go to www.download.com and search for it, and you can download and USE it for free--it will delete the spyware for you. Also, it's one of the best of this type of program.

Good luck.
