Personally I find the subject of gay marriage abhorrent.
Now that I have said that, I am also a Libertarian. Governments should not have the power to endorse or ban any kind of marriage. If I want to marry a woman, why must I go to the government first and get a license? Why do I have to ask their permission to marry the woman I love? We should be able to live our lives within our own households without the government intruding. Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Happiness is what it's called. Government should just stay our of our personal lives as long as we are not bringing harm to others. There should be no laws regarding marriage at all, whether homosexual or heterosexual.

I live in Canada too. I was mildy against the whole idea of changing the definition of marriage but what is done is done and I don't think the law should be changed back now.
Interestingly there was a case (Canada) recently where a man petitioned for divorce based on his wife committing adultery with another woman. This wasn't considered adultery though because the definition of adultery was still cheating with someone of the opposite sex. Eventually the guy won his case though.

I'm not a guy or gay. totally against banning gay marriage [civil] Gospel law is against the practice so the church has every right to ban gay marriage. I have one question; what do we want gay folks do?? hang out with multiple partners? indulge in drugs and alcohol in bars and hang outs?? Or do we want them to live within the law and be properous, productive taxpayers. The way our government spends money we can't have too many properous taxpayers.

The last thing I want is a government telling me what "God's will" is. Each church can bless or not bless same sex couples according to the beliefs of that church; that's what religious freedom means.
But so far as the legal aspects of this, I can't see setting two distinct classes of citizens based on sexual orientation. Adult members of the one class would have the right to designate another (consenting) adult of that class as next-of-kin, in a reciprocal relationship, with each assuming all the rights, priviliges, and responsibilities that entails. The other class would be effectively denied this right. What next, we make homosexuals wear yellow armbands?

Heck no it shouldn't be legal. Unlessthey want to go live on some deserted island together where people don't have to look at it all the time. If god would have wanted same sex marriage then there would only be 1 sex.

Gay and Lesbian couples don't neccesarily want to be legally wed in order to "show their love". Gay people need health insurance and social security too. I think it should be legal, and I don't think the gov't should be able to ok it or ban it.
Sincerely,

i feel like you don't need a piece of paper to show the world your in love. maybe people are just pushing the issue because they know there is so much resistance. we need to start focusing on the benefits of marriage and try to get them instituted into same sex relationships. benifits such as insurance for the partner, family leave act, and just acceptance for whom and what they are, a life partner.
