If the Americans are going to have to spend money to prevent the world from spiralling into disaster - they won't!
When the US get's all the millions of Dollars in revenue from tax and sales of oil and cars, you really think they are going to get rid of them?

There are cycles of climate change, but what is happening at present is extreme and rather "unnatural".
I saw the film "An Inconvenient Truth" just a few hours ago and was impressed with the presentation of the information. Whatever your ideological position, please do examine this and consider cost vs. benefit.
If global warming issues later prove to be exaggerated, and we had taken actions, the result would be new industries, a cleaner environment, health benefits, and an end of dependency on petroleum, which is on its way to depletion regardless.
If the dangers of global warming are correctly noted, or perhaps understated, then we will be glad for any serious measures taken and wishing more had been accomplished sooner. Can you imagine the damage caused by flooding of all coastal cities, creating tens of millions of refugees and countless billions in losses? It's a nightmare to consider---so much happier to assume it can't happen.
Gee, I don't have kids, and the worst likely won't happen in my lifetime. Do you have children to inherit the mess ?

I dont understand why most AMericans are in denial about global warming. It is real, and it it happening. Cold and warm cycles are apart of history, yes. However, the warm cycle that we are in currently is off the charts. We are so far above normal warm cycle. it is astounding how many people are in denial. I think that Europ[eans are in the right direction with thier advance to help the enviroment.

Americans also allow creationism to be taught in schools (i.e. bible before science) so I'm not too surprised. Having said that, the ball of public consciousness about the environment and what we're doing to it was set rolling by an American (Rachel Carson, Silent Spring)
The question isn't "what's the government going to do" it's "what am I going to do" If people insist on having their electricals on 24 hours a day, on having fast food and cheap consumer items, on driving everywhere regardless of whether they have a real need to.... then they don't have a right to complain about "Americans" "governments" or any suchlike.
I'm not saying give up all your creature comforts - I'd find it damn hard to live for two weeks without a hot shower - but there are things you can do to show your true colours. I believe UK consumers in most areas have the option to use green energy (see http://www.nef.org.uk/greenenergy/index.htm ) and to buy real food, especially Soil Association certified (see http://www.soilassociation.org/ ) and Fairtrade (see http://www.fairtrade.org.uk/ ) I reckon if you can make eco-aware choices about 50-85% of the time, that's good enough for now.
India and China create pollution by catering to European and American consumer orders as much as to their own expanding needs.

It's just robot farts. Man, I got to lay off the nacho platters and malt liquor. Heh, heh, heh. Naw, seriously, it's just a lot of hot air from Bill O'Reilly. Okay, okay. It's heat from all the rosy cheeks of people who got well after the Republicans enacted sweeping health care reforms. Snort, splurt, zack! No, really, it's from all those wind mills over in Holland. Wack, wack, wack. No? Um, it's just a natural cycle, and we just happen to be in the cycle that goes from livable environment to wasteland in twenty years? No? Okay, so I reckon you're going to try and tell me that it's some kind of Earth warming up kind of thing -- oh, uh, like global warming, maybe???
Well, I got to run along now and close a deal on some new beachfront property I'm buying. Well, it's really not beachfront, but I expect that to change really soon!!!!!

I think that AMERICA seldom think about global warning. After inaugurating BUSH administration,he cajole EPA and sets the policy which is favour of the energy industry ,as a result he withdrawn the KYOTO PROTOCOL.As a result I think Americans have in deep denial about environment.

Americans because the Earth is heating up but it's also cooling. People are saying it's just heating up but it's also cooling so global warming is a myth and too many people are too worried about it.

Over 17000 American verified SCIENTISTS have signed the Global Warming Petition Project Stating:
"There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of . . . greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate."

Global Warming is happening...the issue is whether or not it is a naturally cyclical part of the ever changing earth's environment, brought about by humankind or a combination of both.
