when its gets about 1-2 years old u can tell. The male has a bigger head with big dewlap and long spikes, and femoral pores under its thighs.Also more agressive and during breeding season turns orange color.The age i can,t really tell.

To determine the sex of an iguana you have to wait until the iguana is at least 18 inches from head to tail. Once they're over 18 inches, the males have large pores on the bottom of their rear legs(thigh).

You can only sex them when they're sexually mature. The easiest way is look for femoral pores along the hind legs- if they're large it's a male. For this and other features try the website:

males usually have a larger dewlap(beard) and dorsal(back) spines than females.however, the best way to tell is to take it to a qualified vet and have the animal surgically sexed.they do this with a probe.

the size of its dewlap under its chin males have really big ones where as females have small ones
