The answer to the first question is yes, absolutely. It keeps companies honest for one thing. It also gives good companies information that can be used in marketing efforts. In amounts to free panel research, although companies that do not conduct product testing and research before product launch are likely to lose more customers than they gain.
The answer to the second question is yes, in good companies the information definitely goes somewhere. No company can afford to lose customers in today's hypercompetitive business climate. A good company will try to turn your problem into a solution that 'wins' you as a customer. The benefit, to the company, can be a more loyal customer. The risk of not doing this equates to losing you and nine other customers. People are much more likely to share a bad experience than a good one.

Yes. A well written, polite letter, with specific details can be quite effective. I have received coupons for free products numerous times by doing so. The trick is to be calm when you complain ... and logical. If you go off on a tangent, being rude or vulgar, you are much less likely to get results. Good luck.

Yes, you should complain about a product if you don't like it. Try sending it back to the company. They may give you money back or something.

YES! Always let the company know if there's a problem. How else can they make the products better?
More than likely, they'll try to make it right with you. If not, don't buy from that particular company again.

If there's something wrong with the product and it's the company's fault, then yes. If it's because you just don't like it, then definitely no. If there's something wrong with it and it's their fault then they will do something about it, because they have to. They will probably just give you your money back or you can exchange it for a product of equal or lesser value.

Usually if your having a problem with a product, you can call the customer service line....tell them of your dissatisfaction. They will want all your info etc. Sometimes they send you a new product and sometimes a coupon. Depending on what you are complaining about. Household products, a thank you and a coupon. a hard product (tele, dryer etc) they will usually take care of it.

Oh, yes! I have gotten refunds, free product coupons, companies changing the ingredients.
If you call them, they view you as representing 500 people. And how will they know what their customers think if their customers don't tell them?

Of course! You bought that product with your MONEY! If your not happy with it, just think of it as flushing money down the toilet. Just a BIG waist of money! Tell them that you are very sorry, but you are not happy with their product, and your would like a refund! But say it in a respectful way.
