Take anger for instance, or love. Hatred or Jealousy. What would you lose to make you a better person?

Nothing. I would rather run my extensive gambit of emotions than risk being a zombie without them. If emotions are taking over your life, dont get rid of the emotions, just learn self control. easier said than done, I know, but there is reward in trying.
p.s. love is a verb. :-)

It could be easier but at times, these emotions can help you to get thru difficult circumstances and problems. Anger is a way of expressing dissatisfaction. I think love is a positive emotion. I think it would life more easier.
I guess I would like to lose my ego to be a better person coz everyone's unique and there's no use getting jealous. Everybody's got a different talent.

No. Life would not be easier. In fact, it would probably be harder. While we'd like to think emotions are something real in themselves, they are probably something closer to a presentation or a symptom. Each individual emotion correlates to a unique neuro-peptide released by the hypothalamus as a reaction after the processing of a sensory experience. These neuropeptides attach to receptors on all cells in which they contact, causing certain reactions in these cells. What's the point of all this chemical hand shaking? Currently held belief is that it helps reinforce the formation of memories. Basically, emotions add to the imprinting of memorable experiences-good and bad. If we had no emotions, memories would less likely be formed, and you would forget much. Memories are required to form advanced cognitive responses and motor plans. With out them, we'd be stuck to continually repeat each moment in the present.

Part of life itself if having feeling - What a boring and senseless world it would be without them.
How do people express themselves, through emotions. Not all of them are good ones granted, but how else would we communicate to other people how we felt.
You cannot tell a person how much you care about just with words for example.
We would all just be robots or worse still just like Vulcan's, and as the person commented before we would all have pointy ears and talk in a one tone voice ... how pants would that be !

Without anger and hatred, there would be no violence.Without jealousy,we wouldn't have those ridiculous feud/cat fights between celebrities that we see on tv all the time.Without love, everybody would be more selfish than they already are.I wouldn't want to lose any of those emotions.Jealousy makes me try harder at things to be better than that person.Without anger,I'll be pushed around alot. And hatred, well,I hate George Bush.I wouldn't want that emotion to go away.

Life would not be easier, just more simple without emotions.

All animals have the 'survival of the fittest instinct' but they don't judge, and that is not an emotion.

We would not survive as a species without these emotions. with anger we protect our family from harm, without love we wouldn't care for our babies. I need all my emotions to be a better person.

Was it Bob Marley who sang "every action needs a reaction"? Hey, we need all the emotions we have to make us complete and whole. God definintely knew what he was doing when he made us, and I do not feel worthy enough to question his profound wisdom. And most importantly he gave us CHOICE, meaning we choose which emotions to display or not to display. That is interesting enough for me and the idea that I have control over my choice helps make me a better person.

Jealousy - a wasted emotion. I suffered appalling from it in my last relationship (with just cause - but no excuse) and have vowed never to let it happen again.
