This way they can never be held accountable for their failures.

Imagine that in project management!!

First off, great question, lol. The so-called war on terror seems to be less like a war and more like war mongering to me. That is why it seems to have no end.... It is the PROBLEM not the solution.

Terror is a feeling. Not a organisation. By definition you cannot fight it.

The whole Al-Qaeda thing was greatly exagerated, just like the "global communist plot" was in it's time. There is no organized terrorist organisation followed by millions of muslim. If there was one believe me, it would be a much much shittier world. Of all the recent "big" attacks none could actually be linked to a wider organisation.

Whether it was in London, or Spain or Indonesia, it was all local groups that had some thing to express. They all had some hatred for the western world indeed. But did they take orders from Ben Laden? No. They wished they did because he's such as star nowadays thanks to FoxNews terror alerts... But can you fight them with an army? No way. The best that could have been done to prevent this was to get those people a decent economic situation *before* they went bonkers and blew themselves up.

You can't have an expiration date...otherwise, the enemy just hides until your date. We didn't say in Germany that we'd fight until March, 1940, and if we don't defeat Germany at that date, we'd pull out.

And there is a definable "end", that would be when there are no longer large ORGANIZED terrorists groups that can threaten the free world with nukes, chemicals, or orchestrated hijackings. And yes, it can be done. Some thought we could never get the Japanese off of all of those islands or defeat them because they promised to fight to the "last man, woman and child". Two bright lights changed their dogma. Others doubted that a sustaining peace could ever be brought to Europe. It's been 60+ years, with a few setbacks (Bosnia), but Europe has largely been a peace region of hundreds of millions of inhabitants (except for their soccer matches).

Someday, maybe the middle east will resolve its issues in the U.N. and on the soccer field. Of course, that's if you're optimistic of the human nature and believe that EVERYONE deserves freedom and democracy, regardless of where they are born.

It's such a pity. I feel terrible, I voted for Bush (Jr) the first time around. I certainly did not the second time around. I personally think he's the most arrogant, bad mouthing ,war monger, greedy, satanist to ever exist on this planet. He is truly, without a doubt a wolf in sheep's clothing. We should be afraid of him. This is coming from a Conservative republican.

No, it's intelligent leading. Something you probably wouldn't understand or agree with so I'm not going to waste my time trying to explain it to you. Until you have 5 stars on your shirt you probably should stay out of military planning.
