YES! All the time! This is great, now i dont feel like i am the only one that does this. It's like I am trying not to think about anything and then i think that i am thinking about not trying to think! I really understand you! Wow, this is awesome!

Been there, done that. Tried it as a kid, to no avail. Tried meditating, nope. Closest I ever came was when I took an Evelyn Woods speed reading course. Trick is to train your eyes to follow your finger, and clear the mind of EVERYTHING. Then you move your fingers rapidly over a page. Suddenly, I was thinking things I never heard of. I thought "My God! I'm doing it." Tried going back later and read the page slowly. It was verbatim what I thought.

I've tried the meditation thing, observing my breathing, without being judgmental about it. I could do it for a few seconds straight, but then I would remember that I had to do the laundry, or something stupid, and it took awhile to realize that I forgot all about observing my breath. Oh well, I guess I would never make a good monk.

Yes, I try all the time since there are always a billion things going through my mind but it never works. Every time i try to relax and forget everything, they all come rushing back in. They don't leave, not even when I'm asleep! I have nightmares about my thoughts!

Yes I have tried that. I've also had the freakish realizations that without trying I have gone without thought then I realize that I really was thinking because I had inner monologue but it wasn't about anything, just the fact that I wasn't thinking about anything.

Yes... it's useful sometimes. I do believe I've even accomplished it on occasion. When you are outside, far from any noises from civilization, listen to the wind in the trees or the water in the stream, just stop, and listen. It is possible to listen without thinking about it.

no, my life's not that complicated. when i turn my brain off, it stays off. I'll catch myself drooling before i think about not thinking, or think that i haven't thought.
its easy for me. instead of having to go to my room when i was little cause my parents said so, they told me i had to stay on my bed. i shared a room with my sister, so i couldn't just go where nobody could talk to me or i could be by myself with my stuff. my parents were stupid about alot of stuff. some people act different when they are told not to think. some people cant stand it. some people would rather try to chew their arm off. other people are really, really good at it. sometimes they've had lots of practice doing it, cause they've did it since they were little, and some people were just born and always found it easy being braindead.

Your question made sense... sorta. I lost you about half way but thats okay.
Anyway, I've tried it before. Something to do when you are bored outta your mind.
LOL, a lotta people are gonna try not to think now because of your question!
