While it may be a temporary low in your potassium or other B vitamin level, according to the reading I have done regarding hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) the brain, when it senses that blood sugar is low, will do sometimes strange things to get the blood sugar (glucose) out of storage and into the blood stream. Making muscles exercise on their own (spasms) are one sure way to do this.

Suggestion? Take 4 big deep breaths - inhaling and exhaling - but not holding or doing fast. Does that stop the twitches, for a moment?

If it does, next try making your lids move. Bat your eyelashes, wiggle your eyebrows. Does this stop the twitches momentarily?

If it does, then, low blood sugar may be the cause.

For relatively long short term relief, go to the kitchen and get some protein, meat, a can of tuna or whatever, and eat it. Also have some carbohydrate, like a handful of chips, or some carrots/celery and some nuts or peanut butter. Eat at least 2 ounces of the protein. Then drink a glass of water and do something else for 30 minutes. You may find your twitches have lessened a bit.

Chronic low blood sugar can also be the cause of a whole bunch of other physical and mental nasties. You may want to check out the symptoms link on www.hufa.org, and see how you check out.

Eye twitching is called "blepherospasm" and is usually caused by fatigue, stress, or caffeine. It can last for anywhere from a day to a week. Severe eye twitching can also be caused by an irritation to the eye -- conjunctivitis, e.g. But most of the time, this is totally normal and it'll go away eventually. Get some rest, try to reduce your stress, and lay off the coffee for a bit!

This would be classified as a smooth muscle contraction, which would mean a deficiency in calcium. Drink some more milk or carrots and you will be fine dont worry it happens to everyone.

I think it is because of stress, lack of sleep - what you need is a good rest, drink vitamins and relax
