I've heard many people saying that the reason the U.S sent troops into the middle east was for oil. Now I've been thinking, if we went in their to steal oil, wouldn't that make oil prices go down? All behold the hypocaracy of democracy.

I've heard people mention things like haliburton, and the president/vice president getting paid for the oil. Just to get this fat out their, W and cheney do not make money depending on haliburton's income. if haliburton does get richer it doesn't affect them 1 bit. interesting huh?

It is Indeed about Oil.

The entire american (and European and others) way of life is based on "cheap" oil. Even now that it has become so "expensive" it is still cheaper than orange juice. As long as you have lots of cheap water coming directly to your tap, you do not realize how important it is to you. Ever had your water cut for 5 hours? How frustrating, can't wash yourself, can't drink from the tap... Now, imagine the same with Oil. Imagine that one day you go to the pump. And boom... there's none. Or none that you can afford. This happens very often in Africa, but we couldn't stand it. Everybody would pretty much go MAD.

The price of oil is not determined by the amount we have now. It it determined by the security we feel about still having as much in the future. It's a fear-based market if you will. There isn't less oil coming to the US now, the only thing that has changed is the increasing fear that it might stop. So basically the big oil producers are just making 5 times the money on exactly the same products. The difference being the fear.

As for the money track. Most of Bush's team or relatives are directly related with one company or another that either deals with construction, oil or weapons. Google for dick cheney, rumsfeld or bush senior... also check out the relations between the Carlyle Group and Saudi Arabia's oil.

Short story: yes, the Bush clan and the companies that brought him to power (advertising isn't cheap) are making a shitload of money thanks to the so-called "war on terror".

Well, lets see, its definately about money.

Since the start of the war, Halliburton has overcharged Taxpayers $1,000,000,000 (1 BILLION DOLLARS) in Iraq alone. That's in, what, 4 years of fighting, or $250,000,000 a year? Wow, I guess the vice-president is WORTH his money. Nice for Halliburton. These numbers are FACTUAL and are being investigated by only 1 man in the government (watch 60 Minutes) 1 man out of our entire government is overseeing all fraud in Iraq, and so far he's got 70 cases ongoing. Incredible stupid don't you think? And Halliburton wasn't mentioned as one. So they'll probably get away with it. Now add the profits from the oil and what do you think they'll make . . . /cry

Well, first off, the fact that oil prices are going up has nothing to do with a lack of oil. It is a scam by the big oil corpirations, and supply and demand. Since we are a society based on money, we are reliant on everythinmg we buy. Since we rely on oil so much, we will pay a high price because we need it so badly. However, this has nothing to do with Bush, or this conflict. It is not just in Irq eather, because we are going after terroriasm.

Someone recently asked if we are in WW3. Instead of dismissing him like most do, I decide to look up the meaning of world war, when the mid east crisis actually started and so on. World war 2 ended in '45 and the war in the middle east started in '48. Israel declared itself and the UN and US backed it up. The Arabs were against it and they went to war. Although they claim there has been several shorter wars, I believe it is all the same war. In order for it to be a world war it has to involve multiple super powers, countries and continents. The war between Israel/US/UN/allies and Arab world/Muslims has involved multiple countries and there has been a terrorist act of war on every continent. And one issue is oil. The price of oil and gas has been kept down artificially. If it rose with the rest of inflation, it would be much higher than it is now. Clearly, the oil issues of this war are like the slave issues of the civil war. The Civil War was about keeping the south in the union, but slavery was one issue. Just like this war is about Israel having its' own land and country, but oil is also an issue. Arabs want the land back as well as the right to increase oil prices with inflation. The US and UN backed Israel want that land and everyone wants to keep the oil prices low.
So, to answer your question yes and no.

The whole idea that we are in Iraq to steal their oil is such a farce.

The oil in Iraq belongs to the people of Iraq and we have not and will not taken any of it.

Incidentally, how come all those Democrats that made this claim were never held accountable for their lies? Oh, I forgot the news media is the lap dog of the Democratic Party.

Yes & NO. The war is costing Billions. Do the math. Also, I truly believe its not only the Oil, but the oil pipeline, that just happens to be in Iraq. But mostly it's all about GREED.

That is one of the reasons why the left appears so far out of it to people who can think for themselves. They repeat mumbo jumbo like it becomes true if you say it often enough, but it has no basis in reality.

who knows what it is about... all the reasons seem to be quirky... and don't make a lot of sense...

I do know though... that if you invade an oil rich country... oil prices will rise... and those who own oil companies, stock, futures... will become very, very, very wealthy...

but I'm sure that's just a coincidence...

no, the fight for freedom has disrupted oil production in Iraq and caused the godawful 'traders' to increase prices; nearly to 80 buck a barrel

We only get about 24% of our Oil supply from the Persian Gulf, and the majority of that coming from Saudi Arabia.
