My favorites -- as opposed to what I think are the BEST 10 films -- are:

1. Sabrina - Classic, romantic, comedic. Billy Wilder is one our finest directors ever and he captures humor and sadness so perfectly. Great use of music in this film. Plus, Audrey, Bogie and Holden? Fugheddaboutit!

2. The Godfather - The classic mob story. Pacino's transition from innocent Michael into the Godfather is magic.

3. The Godfather Pt 2 - The addition of Robert DeNiro to the cast. Great film, flashbacks, intense scene between Pacino and Keaton where he slaps her!

4. The Matrix - This movie raised the bar for visual effects onscreen. Amazing action scenes, great storyline with a large moral message.

5. Pulp Fiction - The non-linear narrative and excessive dialog transcended moviemaking from 1994 on.

6. Good Will Hunting - Just loved the dynamic between the characters, it was funny, intense, and showed how life is like a lot of times. Messy, yet capable of resolve.

7. Amelie - Great foreign film, outstanding visuals, pace and story.

8. Lost in Translation - Captures that feeling of compromise, loneliness and fitting in (or not) all too well.

9. GlenGarry GlenRoss - "Always Be Closing!!"

10. Tie between Officespace, Swingers, The Station Agent, and About a Boy. All great stuff.

You shouldn't have asked for 10, your gonna get more movies than you can choose from. Here's a couple of mine, new and old.

Old and Classics:

Taxi Driver w/Robert Deniro. Good film. Kinda artsy, coined the line "Are you talkin' to me?'. (Also, directed by Martin Scorsese) and he makes a brief, kinda funny appereance in the film. Some people think it's a slow film but every scene has alot of meaning and in reality, is not slow......but not for everyone.

Clockwork Orange, directed by Stanley Kubrick (other Kubrick films are Full Metal Jacket (good) and Dr. Stranglove...or Strangeglove). Older movie, again, a classic and very, very violent.

Quest for Fire. This film is about anciestrial humans (not quite homosapiens yet) trying to find fire. Really good film, no dialouge but is still amazing (as they don't speak....words) and it has funny parts in it. (and you see Cheech's daughter naked, from Cheech and Chong).

Boondock Saints: Hilarious movie. Lots of action, good story and funny.....funny.

If you haven't seen it: SAW. I generally don't like horror/thriller movies but this is not corny. Really well done (SAW 2 too).

The Weather Man with Nicholas Cage. Funny, witty and all around a good film. Maybe a little slow for some audiences.

March of the Penguins: I had no idea what to expect. I was very pleased in this film. Me and about 5 other friends watched it together. It held all of our attentions. Really quite amazing what you learn and the footage they have. Plus you get to listen to Morgan Freeman for an hour.

If your a stoner: Half Baked with Dave Chappell. Hilarious! "Ever seen a $20 bill..........on weed?".

And one last one....um.....OH!!! haha! Falling Down. I think that's what it's called. With Michael Douglas. I don't really like Michael Douglas, but this movie is awsome. Flippin funny and a really good story/meaning. It starts with him, in his car, in a traffic jam in the heat. He leaves his car and the movie is him walking 'home' or to his ex wife's place and what happens on the way. Must see.

And from reading other peoples movies:
Donny Darko and Office Space...correct:genius.
