I believe it is very important for the USA to keep a presence in the middle east to perpetually shake things up. If they ever stopped fighting each other and wholly united, they would be a huge superpower in the age of fossil fuels. And guess who they would likely be wanting to give a little payback? Yikes!

The US WAS asked to move into Iraq, take out an evil dictator and help the new government grow into a democracy. I think it's going pretty good. Every day the Iraqi military grow stronger and are more capable of taking control of the country with their new government.

because if we left they would slip into a civil war that would spread throughout the middle east paralizing the worlds supply of oil, sorry bud but we're there for awhile (20-30 years at least)!

That is a difficult question to answer. There are so many reasons, most answered above already... others, I prefer not to state. I love my country very much, but not politics!

I have two family members there and just wish for their safe return... and I pray for that country, along with all our sons and daughters over there. I pray for peace.

So here's a petition that falls along these lines. we need 150 signatures to get this on the main white house petition site. I think the rights of millions of women to not be treated like dogs should trump oil.

Because their ultimate goal is to destroy Israel AND THE WEST. That means us. This is an enemy driven by religious idealogy. This is more dangerous than Hitler and the Nazis. It's time to take it on and put an end to it before it goes too far. Hitler was able to do a lot of damage before we realized that we better stand up against him and his idealogy. It's time to stop playing politics and recognize who the real enemy is and unite against it before it goes too far.

Frankly, I would be more than happy if they killed each other all over the place over there and then we just went in to mop up and help the survivors, few as they might be.
