ok, you know how kikyo is a miko (preistess). why did she go to hell? since she devoted her life protecting the jewel she should have gone to heaven...she went to hell. any ideas why she didn't go to heaven. oh, just to let you know i hate kikyo. in the japanese stories i've read. supposaly (spelt wrong sorry) if you where a miko, preist or monk and you dedicated your life to what you are and was pure and had no darkness in your heart. you whould go stay with the gods in the afterlife?? so why didn't kikyo???

Here's mine.
I think she went to hell, yes b/c she commited a selfish sin while being in contact with the Shikon no Tama. She wanted Inuyasha to become human for her sake only. Thus tainting the jewel. You taint the jewel, no matter who you are, eternal place in hell with gasoline boxers.
That's my theory anyway.

Actually, in the beginning when Kikyou is brought back by Urasue, there is no mention of her being in Hell- because her soul is already reincarnated in Kagome. After the battle where she loses most of the soul back to Kagome, she is left as a avenging spirit living on the souls of others, with feelings of hatred ,resentment and revenge. This is probably why she feels she will end up in Hell.

no... not because she made a sin to inuyasha. she did not know that she was framed by Naraku. She couldn't be held accountable.
She went to hell because all the hatred she kept in her heart due to the betrayal of *fake* inuyasha.
She loved Inuyasha so much and her heart couldn't handle the betrayal. So, her soul was tainted by evil hatred to kill Inuyasha.

she thought that inuyasha had tried to kill her so she had hatred and malice for him, but before that tsubaki had already told her she was losing power as a preistess because she was in love with inuyasha. so she might not have been as pure as she thought she was.

I agree with the second answer, I think it's 'cuz her soul is tainted and 'cuz she commited a sin before she died. The sin of course would be killing Inuyasha, guess she was never forgiven for it.^-^

she didn't really went to hell but the people burnt her body and i think because of that it make her think it's hell
