Let me clarify---ambition, a goal, a plan for your life. What you would like to be. See above-a actor, musician, politician, etc. Thanks!

Dreams are goals and an escape. Without dreams, even if they are unrealistic, we have nothing to strive for and no reason to better ourselves or even to go on living. Can you imagine a world without dreamers? Nothing would ever change. People with dreams view the world not as it is but as it should be.

It's very important to have something to strive for. A dream is a goal, a reason to work hard and to put your heart into everything you do. A dream is a compass pointing you in the right direction when you have lost your way and you need to get your life on the right path. If we didn't have dreams then we might as well just sit at home watching the clock as we watch every second of our life pass us by.

because otherwise it is very difficult to work hard. A dream is a goal, something to look forward to at the end of some effort. If you don't have a dream, or goal, it is almost impossible to have a direction, so all your efforts will be pointless, and most likely scattered

Well I think that if nobody had dreams we would all be overstressed and our children will have nothing to look foward too in the future except to follow in the parents line of work. Without dreams movies would be dull and the entertainment would be low business

Dreams as in hopes or dreams as in mental pictures during sleep?

Sleep-imagry is needed to train our eyes and prepare our mind for functioning in a 3d world.

Hope is necessary for us to function; it's the lie that there's a point to our existence, the thing that keeps us from despair and death. Without hope, without dreams, we'd have no reason to live. Humanity wasn't created/evolved merely to die, so we were given dreams to make us want to live.

So you can have something to work toward and a goal that you can try to reach. If we don't know, then we'll end up going through life no knowing what we want to do
