I'll admit it on here that I met the love of my life on the internet, but it's extremely difficult for me to tell people how I met her.

I met my husband online 6 years ago and I don't mind telling people at all.. However he does.. Even now he doesn't like to tell people.. It's normal for people to feel a bit embarassed - you may feel like people are judging you or calling you a loser..

Women see it in a more romantic way then men do.. We see it like we met online, we were seperated for 4 years, and we are together against all odds! And the other girls go AWWW

Men see it in a negative way - like oh your a loser you couldn't get a "Real life" girl and you had to go online! Men are just mean to eachother like that..

It's probably difficult for you because the people that you want to tell - you're in fear that they wouldn't understand you. It's the same as some girl writing some guy in the military that she hardly knows and then marrying him. It's just a different type of media that's all.

Don't lie to people and make up stories about how you met.

Ensure them that she is a she - that will simmer them down quite a bit ;) Tell them how much time you spend together in person.. and the online part was just to get to know each other without the physical getting in the way.. it's an awesome way to get to know people!

at first it was hard to convince people that our relationship was "real" after meeting online...but now we are marrried and it is so much more accepted it seems by some people. I met my husband on a site called "Big Friends"...I never really went into detail as to WHAT site we met on, but I have always felt comfortable telling folks we met online.

I understand what you're saying, but the only person who can answer this question is you.

Why do you care? What is it you think others think when you tell them that?

There are some old ideas people might have - that you couldn't get a date in person, or you were just trying to hook up for sex or something, but that doesn't really matter these days, does it?

You meet someone, you get to know them - what matters is that you're together.

Why ? Ok, so most people think that internet dating is like the red light district of the net but, so what ? If you two get along, like each other and wanna meet and date, then why does it matter what others think ?

Some where in your sub-conscious, meeting your fiancee' on the Internet, is a demeanor to your own self. Give yourself the "OK" with it, and it want matter what other people think.

I know I'm in the same boat people always ask where did you meet frankly my dear it's none of their damn business. If you want to tell them fine, if you don't make up a place cafe, market or someplace special but make sure you keep the same story.....
