I loved Mystery Alaska. It was funny and no contrived "hollywood" ending. There was no way those guys were gonna win. Miracle was a great movie too, but mostly what I liked about that was the opening. I'm old enough to remember all those things that were going on in the US then. Even though on it's own the win over the USSR would have been awesome, added to the poor outlook most Americans had at the time the win really boosted morale in this country.

I can't believe no one mentioned Hockey Night. The tv movie about the girl goaltender. Rick Moranis looks funny with a beard. And, the radio play by play announcer is Bailey from Mystery, Alaska.
Ok.. it's not as great as the others, but someone had to mention it. Also, if you can find it on video, dont miss John Wayne as a hockey player in Idol of the Crowds.

Mystery, Alaska was a good movie. But I think Miracle is the best. Now I only say this because it was a true story and some people don't realize that the movie was made on focusing Herb Brooks and what he did with a team of nobody's and turned them into a miracle on ice. Slap Shot was a great movie as well but it just focused on fighting for the most part. As for Youngblood, well I have to say it's in a tie w/ Slap Shot as #2. My vote is for Miracle.

I like Miracle better but I do like Mystery Alaska. Slapshot is a joke. That movie is the reason people who are not hockey fans think hockey is nothing but fights.

I think slapshot is the best movie period. The movie is also the most popular Canadian comedy of all time. If the Canadians love an american hockey movie then it must be the best. I did love Mystery Alaska and Miracle too!!!!

Mystery Alaska and Miracle, are hollywood-flag-waving pieces of garbage. Slapshot was about the game. You have a clouded vision of what a "great" movie is.
