It's got to be pure. It's the essence. It's the core. It's the stuff. Conceived of religiously or otherwise, the soul is what you get when you strip away the complexity. I might even argue that all souls are the same.

A soul is the combination of a body and a spirit. I'm assuming your body exists, as you had the fingers needed to type your question, so that's 1/2 of it proven. The other part, your spirit, is real, too. If you're a religious kind of person, you know that your spirit is all you had before you gained a body, and you will return to not having a body for a while after death. If you are not the religious type, then think of your spirit as who you want you to be. You have the potential to change who you are. With enough self-discipline, you can make yourself try harder, accomplish goals, become another person entirely, even change your ideas about things. Now, if you think about it, wouldn't that go against the law of conservation of mass? If one kind of chemical, for example, made you think that you liked blue better than green, and then in later years you decide that you liked green more after all, where would the "blue is better" chemical go? DIfferent external stimuli affect how we see things and how we think. Yet we do not litterally take part of things we once saw, things we've heard, or read, and cram them into our heads. I believe that's part of your spirit, and without the spirit I believe you would lack the ability to have real emotions beyond that of a chimpanzee. That's what I have to say on the subject.

The soul is pure until the body defiles itself with murder, hateful intent and evil thoughts. Then the soul is impure, but not complex. In the words of Oscar Wilde; "The soul is born old and grows young, the body is born young and grows old".

Yes soul exist..

it is pure in the begin when we r childs.. that is why all babes and children are pure..

Then it become complex day by day when we grow up.. depends on how we protect it..

there are people who can protect it as they can.. that is why they stay pure and kind persons..

And others become complex.. coz they let they dont protect it from bad things and bad persons and from devil..

And complex soul.. can be a pure soul one day.. if they decided to protect his soul and to not let him self.. hurt his soul..

Soul.. is pure thing.. that we have to protect it

If the human soul is anything, it must be of unimaginable complexity and diversity, so that it cannot possibly be approached through a mere psychology of instint. We can only gaze with wonder and awe at the depths and heights of it through psyhic ways!!!
The soul is said to pass on...rather it be by ghost or to heaven or to hell we can not see it there fore we draw theories on how and where it will go.
Thanks for reading this if you did!

I don't believe souls exist. But if they did, they would most likely be a complex. They would have to be able to attach themselves to a physical body (and influence it), maintain and understand an individual identity, experience goodness and one-ness with God (or pain and separation). But I suppose if souls existed, any sort of magic is possible.

I myself am struggling with that question among others right now. Richard Dawkins believes there is no such thing, but argues that we are rather a whole made up of small selfish "gene machines". I like his theory on evolution, but it leaves some holes for me. Like the concept of the soul. He argues in favor of "memes", or the genetic equivalent of an idea. He argues that certain paradigms or "memes" are selected for one reason or another and live on from culture to culture.

I believe there is more to humans than just genes and memes. We are more than just selfish machines. What of emotion or attachment? Good luck on your journey my friend.

Can the essence be measured, weighed, can it be observed? I only hear of anecdotal evidence that a person can look down on his/her body when the 'essence' is floating above their bed. Without evidence that's verifiable, its can only be relegated to fanciful thinking... Faith in a soul's existence is not proof, but if it makes you happier about life, more power to you...some people need rose-colored glasses to survive.

we search for only those things which are either lost or forgotten.we search in the objective world, its knowledge, only through its objects.the tool we apply for the acquisition of its knowledge---intelligence,was,again, gained from it.similarly we 'realise' the knowledge of soul only through its tools viz., conscience and wisdom.both Nature& soul are not away from us. the objective world we see through our 'eye';similarly the soul too is 'visible (realizable) through the 'eye' of spirituality (spiritual discipline). for each subject, there is a syllabus/curriculum. for the learning of subjects/disciplines relating to objective world, we seel empirical knowledge; similarly for 'knowing' the soul--which is omnipresent, hence has not to be searched out---there is the science of spiritualism. purity of thought, word and deed is essential for the knowing of a 'thing' which is pure, eternal and whole.search/seek in,and 'find' it there in all Its effulgence.with love.little-self.
