The car will have a 3 yr 36,000 mile basic warrenty, no matter how many times it changes hands. But if the previous owner bought a ext. warrenty it only is good for the previous owner.

Yes the warranty will transfer, you do need to let Ford know you own the car. You can do this at a ford dealership, this lets them (Ford) know how to contact you if there is a recall notice.
It is for the Length of the original warranty. You need to get as many records of the maintenance as you can from the previous owner unless you got it from a dealer. Oil changes, previous service, sometimes the owner will have maintained the cars service manual. My wife keeps hers like diary I just throw the paper work in the folder. If you don't have all the paper work you may end up in Pee-Pee contest with Ford later.
The simple answer is Yes.

Warranty is with the car and not the owner so it is still under warranty if it says so

Check with Ford! They can decide it does not apply! However, no matter whether you are covered or not, you may find that the guarantee only works if you and the previous owner have had the car serviced by Ford dealerships and at the times specified in the handbook.

it is covered if the warranty is the original 3yr 36000 mile warranty from the factory. extended warranties beyond 3yr 36k mile in many cases are non-transferable.
