A brand new or properly rebuilt Chevy 350 could run for over 200,000 miles if taken care of, not overheated, change the oil, and don't over rev it. I have a 1978 Chevy 305 with a ton of miles on it. I purchased the car in 1994 and the only thing I've done is a new oil pump and main crank bearings, and it really didn't need them. The heads are worn out and will get rebuilt soon, but doesn't smoke much at all. Keep the oil pressure up a little and it will last a long time. Valve springs will give up and valve guides will wear out before much else happens.

The Chevrolet 5.7 ltr or 350 which ever you want is very reliable and pretty good on gas considering the size of the vehicle that they put them in, and there is no reason why you shouldn't get at least 150k with it but you have to take care of it to do it and that is with any engine. A good rule of thumb is anything that is man made is going to take maintenance or it will break down;.

What year is it? From early on up to the late 80's they always had problems with timing chain at 150K and the cam shafts tended to shear lobes from time to time. My recommendation...before you put this motor in....put in a crane RV cam (or fast cam depending on what you want to do) and put in a gear drive timing set (they are not too expensive) and you should be able to get at least 300K out of the engine (depending on what year). Newer engines have stronger alloys in the valve seats and closer tolerances in the machining of the crank and other parts.

Quadrajet ? The air gas blowing out appears like valves leaking compression via carb-timing w/popular cam might want to be 4 tiers formerly accurate-useless-center.If u have a qj carb they r very tender & also require ok-plug kits at the same time as o'hauled.

Like any hardware, depends on the care of the user. You should easily get 100K out of it with regular oil changes, unless you drive like a teenager.
