I saved a file to my documents and I am unable to open the file it comes up with gibberish letters what have I

Make sure you're opening it with the same program you used to create the file. If you used Word to create it then use Word to open it. If you used Excel to create it then use Excel to open it and so on.

open a program & drag the file in it, say windows media player or Word

try opening the word processing program first. and then using the "open" command from there (there=WP program)...?

not sure.

you need to see what program it was writtne in, and convert it to your reader software,
