My nephew, (hungry little guy) is on the variable rate nipple and eats all his food up in no time. You keep the marking that corresponds to the flow that you want to the top and in line with their nose. Make sure that it's the flow you want because they certainly flow fast and growing little ones need every bit of that food!
If you ever turn the bottle or let your child hold the bottle, as my daughter likes to, then this isn't a nipple for you.

I think with that kind of nipple/teats, the baby's own sucking action controls the flow of the milk. They have a 1 flow, a 2 flow, and a 3 flow. The one flow is for newborns, the 2 flow is for 1-3 months, and the three flow is for 3 months and up.

Word of advise dispose of them now!!! I had an absolute nightmare with those. The milk came out to fast even though it was i slow suction and they also leaked i ended up buying hundreds of the buggars and all of them done the same. I'm not to sure about your question don't really understand it but i think you'll find ongoing problems with them, and also the crap they say about avent, that the teats prevents colic is a load of crap cause my son had colic for three months started at 5 the screaming and ended at 8 every night without fail.

Ok, on the teat, if the single mark is facing baby's nose, it's slow, the double marks facing baby's nose means medium, and the triple marks facing baby's nose means fast.

You are correct. You should face the marking for the flow that you want up towards th baby's nose.
