i've been fighting moles in my back yard four summers in a row. at first, i didn't want to use poison so i got some enviroment safe stuff...they must have thought it was the ice cream truck, did not affect them at all. i tried the smoke bombs two summers in a row, and i mean a lot of them, one or two a day..they were fun to use is why i kept using them..another ice cream truck. by summer three, i'm getting mad. i bought this stuff you spred on the yard to kill the grubs, (mole food,), no good..i then resorted to poison, putting pellets in their trails...three different kinds of poison, including a gel you shoot in with a syringe..more ice cream i guess. neighbor told me just dump gasoline down their hole...still moles..so, any suggestions?

Really the only sure way to get rid of them is to kill them. I tried all kinds of things over the years until I found the best trap to use. Its called the Mole Eliminator" http://www.themoletrap.com/
Don't try those cheaper ones, they don't work worth crap. When you place the trap, make sure you locate an active tunnel. Moles have two types of tunnels, travel and feeder. The long straight ones are travel tunnels. The short little curving ones are feeders. They only use these one time then move on. Locate a travel tunnel, then step on a small portion to push the top down. If the top is pushed back up the next day, its an active tunnel.
Place the trap on the tunnel and sit back and relax. I caught four moles in two hours one day. Since I got this trap, I have gotten rid of the nuisance. I live on the edge of a wooded area I knew I would see some more moles eventually, so I purchased a castor oil based repellent and saturated a 4 ft ring around the yard. The neighbors all get moles now, but I don't!
(BTW moles are insectivores, they won't eat most baits, especially chewing gum)

I have heard it all. Egg shells, chewing gum, banana peelings, flooding, peppers, human hair, Soap and bacon grease, humane urine, chemical pellets and even smoke. Sorry, but it’s all worthless. You’re going to have to get rid of them and do so aggressively. For best and quickest results, use the spring traps (I saw some at Wall-Mart last week). Place them over the "runs" that you see thought your yard. Then the moles go through, it triggers the trap and you'll have one. Be sure to re-set the trap for another.
Poison peanuts/wheat also work, but results are slower. These are made by the W. R. Sweeney Company. I have also, if you have the time, walk on the mound that is left when they dig & just wait. Soon, you will see them going through the tunnel by raising the dirt again. Quickly dig them up w/a shovel. You have to move fast to get them this way. Odds are good; you won't be able to kill them fast enough.
Until you solve the real problem, you will continue to have moles. They are in you yard because there is an abundance of Grubs there. Just like another animal, they have selected your yard for the abundance of food there. You can treat your yard with a Bayer product, Merit or a Scotts product , Grub EX. It is a granular product that spreads on the lawn much like you would spread fertilizer. A product that has Bifenthrin, sometimes called Talstar as an active ingredient in it will also work well. Another possibility is to add nematodes to your yard. The nematodes can be found at most of your Mom and Pop garden centers, and feed on Grubs. Another product many people have had success with (myself included) is Milky Spore. To treat the lawn, just put a spoon full at 3 foot by 3 foot. Milky Spore lasts for many years. Understand, it will only kill the grub in its larva stage and will not harm the existing grubs. These are much more organic approaches, but as is normally the case with organic solutions, results will be slower. Rid your yard of the Grubs and your mole problem will not be resurfacing.

A friend was over tonight and we were talking about moles, oddly enough. She said that she takes a bit of cat litter and puts it in their holes, used cat litter with urine on it. She says moles have a very sensitive nose and they will leave because of the smell. I haven't tried this yet and probably will but am passing the info along anyway. Actually the moles that I have, I leave alone because I figure they eat the grubs that I don't want.

I have to agree with "Quatro Ninos" answer. You'll find moles in areas where there are lots of insects in the soil so the best way to get rid of them is by eliminating the insects. Moles like to dine on grubs and worms. I'd suggest you try broadcasting a granular insecticide and watering it in. This will probably cause the moles to move elsewhere.

We bought some grub killer made by Scott's and it got rid of ours. I guess they eat the grubs and when the grubs are gone the moles go elsewhere. It lasts for about three months.

I've never had mole problem .......
but I've heard to place a stick of Juicy Fruit gum
down any holes you find ........ they can't digest it,
so it blocks them up & they die
some might consider this cruel, but sounds
like other methods you have tried didn't work
hope this helps

Apparently, only a "sonic device" helps, and I remember my grand dad burrying empty beer bottles (neck up!) into the ground. The sound of the wind blowing over the hole is said to really piss them off......!
