Personally, I'd make humans have wings and the ability to fly. It would eliminate so many problems having to do with distance. What's your opinion?

Maybe just a bit less violence-prone; a bit less competitive. Those traits may have been useful thousands of years ago, when the world seemed a larger place. With much less elbow room, it would be great if a little genetic switch came on increasing "courtesy quotient", altruistic feeling for one's fellow human beings, a cooler temparament. Actually, some populations seem to be becoming more like this and managing to cope just a bit better, perhaps :)

I second that notion... I want me a pair of wings! Think, you can fly to work and school instead of walking! Just watch out for those darn airplanes...

... however, for such a thing to be accomplished, we'd need a lighter bone mass that is stronger, though, humans DO have the capability to have been given wings. Hence why our backs are the way they are. Unfortunately, conventional "flying" -- which is truly hovering -- would never be truly accomplished. Only gliding.

I wouldn't change a thing. I'm not nearly as perfect a designer as nature/god, so I'm sure that any suggestions I make would have unintended negative side-effects.

Take wings for example. If we had wings, we'd be among the largest creatures in the air, virtually unstoppable. We could hunt with impunity and escape nearly any danger. We would have no need to rely on our fellow man, so we'd have no need for society or morality. With our physical prowess, we'd have almost no need for all but the most primitive technology, and combined with our lack of society our minds would go to waste. We'd be sooner devils than angels and I don't think we'd be better off for it.

in line with julia c's approach, a very major "flaw" in the human experiment is the relatively low consciousness level, popularly, that reinforces all the ego ridden behaviors that are leading to our destruction: overdone competition, aggression, bigotry, etc.. all of these behaviors, as many students of psych.101 and eastern thought could tell you are attributable to fear. these "fear based emotions" cause people to act in very disharmonious ways. that's where we are today. if you ever get the chance to spend time with people who have "worked on themselves", through therapy, meditation, etc. and thus have some insight into why we are like we are, you'd see much more harmony, peace, etc. they all take things much less personally, are far more tolerant, etc. it takes some effort. to never inquire into why you react the way you do, or think the way you think, is not ideal. doing this "work" leads to a higher level of consciousness. why is it called that? because you've become more conscious of what it means to be human, what the challenges are, and how better to address them. check out:* the complete idiot's guide to toltec wisdom* for an understandable explanation of how humans "operate", and how to smooth the rough edges. also, www.sahajayoga.com can help also with the energetic aspect of the matter.

Flying would be great, but would require so many changes to your body that you wouldn't be human any more. More realistically, I'd love to have a prehensile tail. It would be nearly as useful as a third hand without looking as funny.

I would like to see evolution take some of the aggressiveness out of human beings. We're way too willing to kill each other, often over abstractions such as "nation," "religion," and "ethnicity."
