My husband and I are ready to start a family, I have been off the pill for 1 month after years of being on it. I have heard the only reason to wait is to let your periods regulate but that its not a big deal. Any opinions?

START NOW! they only tell you to wait because it can take 3-4 months for your periods to start up again, and the waiting can be frustrating for some people (like, you're taking pregnancy tests and hoping, but you haven't even ovulated yet). many of my friends believe that the first month off the pill is your MOST fertile -- and i got pregnant with my son my first month off the pill! good luck!
anyway.... to reiterate... there is no medical reason to wait.

You can start trying right after stopping the pill. People tend to wait the 3 months to regulate their periods and let their own hormones start to get their body back going again on it's own, but I know LOTS of women who got pregnant right away after stopping the pill and were on it forever.

Good Luck and hope you join the mom club soon!

You don't need to wait. Sure your body may need to get back into a regular cycle but it is possible to fall pregnant the day after you stop taking the pill. That's why we are warned to be careful if we miss a pill and we don't want to fall pregnant.

My best friend is 3 months pregnant & she conceived first go after stopping the pill!

And, yay about starting a family! My husband and I have just started trying too!

The pill is out of your system almost immediately. The only reason they advise you to wait is so that you are certain of the date of your last period, for dating the pregnancy. I would recommend at least waiting until you have had one period so you have a starting point.

Good luck!

Well, and this is gross but its exactly what a doctor will tell you... wait until your most fertile time of the month which is usually 3-7 days after your period. Wait until you notice more discharge... this is a sign that your ovulating or just about to.

It's okay to start now. They just tell you to wait so you can start your prenatals and let the meds get out of your system and you can be healthier when you conceive. It decreases the risk of miscarriage. Some people it takes a few months to conceive anyhow, so go for it!! GOod luck :)

Start trying now.

I was a birth control pill baby... my mom was on the pill for years, and I suppose her body built up a tolerance for it. My dad actually told her she was pregnant but she didn't believe him.

Depending on your own chemistry, you can become pregnant at any time.

good luck

Why turn yourselves into baby making machines already?

Have fun, have sex, love each other, be merry. God will give you a child if God believes that you will be a good parent.

If I cared so much about how and when I was going to be pregnant - I wouldn't be pregnant with my 6th & 7th children!
