Carter USM ('The Unstoppable Sex Machine') were Jim 'Jimbob' Morrison and Les 'Fruitbat' Carter. They were great fun: I saw them twice, once at Exeter University and once at Plymouth Pavilions, supported on that occasion by Band Of Holy Joy. Known by some as 'The Punk Pet Shop Boys', they played up to that by tearing up 'Rent' at Glastonbury. 'Straw Donkey' is a singles collection that is worth having.

The only Carter I can remember was Neil Carter, keyboard player, guitarist in UFO and with Gary Moore. I've never heard of a group called Carter I have to admit.

Fruitbat and Jimbob. I saw them once at the Derby Assembly rooms in the early nineties. Ah, takes me right back.

I think they were called Jimbob and Fruit bat. Fruit bat's finest moment was attacking Phillip schofield at the smash hits poll winners party.
