When I try to talk in a chat room, I can hear my own voice on my speakers,
and I have the plugs in the right holes.

what the heck is going on.

Check the settings on your sound card. The mic function may be connected to the speaker function via the sound card. Go into settings for sound and see if you can change that.

Can you hear other people? Can they hear you? There is a feature that will allow you to hear your own voice, and I believe this can be disabled.

That's feed back. Try moving your speakers farther away from your mic if you can.

ur headfones are screwy. there is nothing wrong with your comp/plugs.
