when i try to restart my other computer it goes to the first dvd drive, and will not go past that one to the other and then to the hard drive for start up...i have checked all components and they appear to be fine.

Usually, this type of setting is controlled in the BIOS. Check your computer's documentation to see how to access this. It could also be that the hard drive has failed, and that is why the computer will not boot from it. But, before assuming the hard drive is bad, check your BIOS settings for Boot Sequence.

Are you sure there's not a disk in the DVD drive?
Also, you can go into BIOS setup and change the boot order so it boots to the hard drive first. Then you can check out the DVD to see if it's working properly.
