Talking about money and prestige is one giveaway that you have absolutely no class and are insecure. No matter your net worth, you should be kind to others and not make others feel less of themselves for working an honest living to support their families.
Being gracious, respectful, modest, confident, etc... define a person as having class.
You can be rich and not have class.

I would consider "rich" being able to say, "I don't have to work for a living". This could mean you have a grand coming in a month or a hundred grand coming in a month. It all depends on how you spend it. I don't want a lavish life style. I don't believe in paying someone for the name on a label unless that product is the best, and only the best is the right way to spend the money. Would I still shop at a dollar store if I were rich? Yes. Most likely I would buy more from local Mom and Pop businesses since I don't really like to support large corporations. I would buy more natural items, more organics, and get a more earth friendly vehicle. I know I wouldn't be rich unless I could help my friends, family and neighbors out (by choice and not coercion).
Most of all, I would know I am rich if I could support wild animal rehab and be able to buy land in various parts of the world for sanctuaries for wild life. Then, I would set up communes to support a more earth based life style.
Idealistic? Yes....I have a dream........................

Honest.....here you go. I grew up well -- my mom stayed home (was there everyday when I got home from school) - my dad retired from the Pentagon. I moved out of the house at 18 years old, worked hard, struggled. I am on my 2nd marriage - 25 years (and last) and we have had serious financial problems because of a LOT of bad things that happened to us. I get my granddaugher frequently and no matter how stressed out I am because of $$, I look at this sweet little girl and all my problems go away for that time. THAT IS RICH. It doesn't get any better than that.

Look down on people? I doubt it. All that is learned behavior when you are growing up. I think if I suddenly won $100 million or whatever I'd split it up between my family and friends, invest some for my kid's education, and give some to charity.
I don't think having money makes you special. It's what you do with it that counts.

When they are truly content with what they have and are not constantly trying to get more. When they use their resources for the good of humankind.
I hope I never have so much money that I think of others with contempt. That's when i would cease to be "rich".
