She has a nice body, not too terrible-looking from face and that voice of hers is... okay... but is shaking yourself around while making a face that says, "I'm easy" really enough to appeal to the public? That's just sad. I agree the way she moves sometimes is quite incredible and her voice is somewhat enjoyable, but I mean, no real talent in her, right? Think about it. I respect people... "liking" her (which mostly includes desperate guys who are bored and have nothing else to do or girls who are just obsessing to look like her), but I'm just both mad and confused that such a person with nothing out of the ordinary could possibly gain quite so many fans. It's not Michael Jackson here (yes, I know he's weird right now, but you have to admit he WAS amazing) ! your 100% percent correct ... gurls and women are continuesly trying to act and look like her and other stars although it may seem really stupid i have to say obessing over your looks and such is just showing how really desperate they are to become someone eles and that really shows an example of how not to be.they should be comfterable in ur own skin and if they aren't they need to learn to be cause in the long run shakeria and all these other stars will become last years fashion trends. People need to learn to be themselfs not to attempt to go through hoops and circles for something they know they won't be able to become so just sit back and watch those people fall faces.and also many of these stars do look and act trashy and it DOES send a wrong message.

OK...I love her. I think she is great and the fact that she doesn't sound like anyone else on the music scene sets her apart. Who we need to be talking about is Cassie and how she can't sing but she's cute and can dance...or ciara who is in the same boat. Those are two girls with no real talent. Plus it's about time we give Shahira her dues...she's been in the industry for years before the U.S. finally paid some attention to her. Why are you saying that girls are obsessing to look like her? Maybe that's you...unless you have solid prove that girls want to look like her, don't generalize all of us...thanks...

I agree with you totally girlfriend. I was watching the "Hips Don't Lie" video and I was shocked at how horrible it was. Her wardrobe, including those tacky rhinestones on her back was so bland. I just don't get the excitement. I love music and I'll dance to anything that sounds good, but she just doesn't do it for me. Can you believe that song is still in the top five on the Billboard charts? Shakira is an average entertainer. She is definitely overrated.

Shakira is a hottie, she has some serious moves and a great voice...
More than that, however, she has presence. If you've ever seen her live, she is very real, not like a fake piece of celebrity fluff. She is very unpretentious and seems to be just out there to have fun and do what she loves. To me, that is every bit as important as her looks and talents.

Celebrities who are marginally talented like Britney Spears are made famous by many factors, but there's one primary reason: poeple like you who won't shut up about them. It's like what happened to Howard Stern...People that like him listened to him cause they liked him, and people who didn't like him listened so they could whine about how they didn't like him. So everyone is tuned in, for whatever reason. Same thin with Britney, Jessica Simpson, NSync...all that stuff.
Shakira, however, is very talented, although her good stuff doesn't make it onto American charts. To sell in America, you need the sexy look and the eye candy and the catchy, unoriginal beat. Listen to some of the B-side tracks though, you might be surprised.

convinced, i love Shakira. She is unique. Her voice is unique and she or he will be able to dance properly. Her songs are properly written. widespread, she is amazingly an entertainer. She is diverse than a cookie cutter company pop superstar like those from American Idol or the Spears/ Aguilera kinds.

Too true. Too many hip-hop, R-B, movie and other stars are way too overated. What bothers me though is that country stars (I'm a big fan) have no where near as much coverage as all the other stars... I agree. She only has an average voice and dancing talent. The only reason she is famous is because she flaunts her body which, is just slightly above average.

She has a very talented voice. i don't think your giving her enough credit. there are a lot of other people out there with a lot less talent, like hillary duff or Raven i hate them both so much
